Cody Linder has been teaching at White House of Music since February 2022, and teaches a wide variety of musical styles. Ever since he was 10 years old, Cody has been obsessed with music and pursuing many projects and instruments. He cites seeing Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus as his initial inspiration to pursue music, and has been doing so ever since. Aside from teaching, he is also an active composer and arranger. He has played in various bands as guitarist, bass guitarist, vocalist and keyboardist. He has extensive experience performing throughout Southeastern Wisconsin as a vocal soloist and recitalist as well as a guest artist with the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra. Currently he is the assistant director of the Badger Chordhawks, a men’s chorus based in Janesville. He is also the bassist for The Thomas Pibal Trio. While he has a large background in classical music, he also has pursued other musical avenues. When he graduated college, he joined a metal band where he played bass. He also enjoys experimenting with electronic music and occasionally enjoys modding and building guitars.

Bio

Dan Maske is a composer, performer, and recording producer, as well as a teacher in those subjects. He has over 25 years experience teaching piano, as well as drum set, and trumpet. He holds BA and MM degrees in music theory/composition from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a DMA in music composition from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also performs on trumpet and drum set, and will take on the role of conductor from time to time. In addition, he is a published author of musical instructional books (Progressive Rock Keyboard: https://bit.ly/38Qbu0S, Progressive Rock Drumming: https://bit.ly/31a3Njx, Circle of Fifths Explained https://bit.ly/2NzPCC2, and Counterpoint Explained). Maske has also served on the music faculty of Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WI, since 2007, and has been teaching composition for the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra since 2005. Dan and his wife, Angela Schmidt, are also founding members of the progressive rock band Far Corner (Far-corner.com), where he plays keyboards and composes the band’s music. The group’s recordings have been released on the Cuneiform Records label (http://cuneiformrecords.com/bandshtml/farcorner.html). Dan Maske teaches all levels, from beginner to advanced. He specializes in classical, rock, and jazz. Jazz based lessons often focus on improvisation, as well as learning notable works in the jazz repertoire. With respect to classical music, Dan covers all eras and composers, including adventurous works by modern composers. In addition, piano lessons often involve instruction in composition, depending on students’ interests and goals. Whether it be creating short and simple piano pieces, full rock/pop songs, or even classical works, scored for orchestral instruments, students have the opportunity to tackle a variety of creative endeavors. Such creative work may either be a part of piano lessons, or the main focus of instruction. Dan also works with college-bound high school students, in preparing them for auditions, and helping them achieve a certain level of proficiency in music theory. Younger students also have the opportunity to enter the State Solo and Ensemble festival, and other similar events, where Dan works with them to polish solos in classical and/or jazz, to be performed for a judge. The following is a statement from Dan Maske, regarding his overall teaching philosophy, but each student is treated as an individual, where parents and adult students can request a specific area of focus, based on their interests: In piano lessons, I teach a form of “comprehensive musicianship,” meaning I work to include traditional music reading and technique, creative elements such as composition and improvisation, music theory, music technology, and more. These help turn students into well-rounded musicians, while making the experience as fun and engaging as possible. I also pay attention to each student’s own musical interests, including styles of music they love, personal goals, and I pay close attention to the areas of music to which a student responds the most. I am also mindful of the impact music instruction can have on children, benefitting them as they strive to succeed in all subjects in school, sports, and other activities.

Bio

I have been teaching piano for 30 years, the last 20 at White House of Music. I enjoy teaching all ages and have even taught parents of former students. One of the things I find most important is being able to explain things in more than 1 way. Not everyone learns the same way and some benefit from demonstration while others prefer to listen to an explanation and then try it themselves.

Music Education:

I majored in Music Therapy at UW-Milwaukee but after subbing for a music therapist for a time, realized music therapy was not a good fit for me. A friend of mine suggested I try teaching piano and after a semester of teaching just 2 students I had found my niche and have been teaching ever since. I have taken private piano lessons over the years- there is always more to learn! I plan to start again in the fall. French.Horn was my first instrument- starting in 5th grade -and I still play in a couple area concert bands.

Teaching Experience:

30 years teaching experience. The first 10 were out of my home and at 2 Lutheran Day Schools. The last 20 years have been spent at White House. I love having the staff do the scheduling and the billing and I can concentrate on what I love most-teaching! Have also taught some guitar but do not feel qualified enough to do a good job.

Styles Taught:

Just about everything! Baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary. If a student has an interest in a style I’m not well versed in, I learn it. Over the years I’ve added jazz ,blues, ragtime and new age to my list of styles.

Methods Taught:

Faber, Alfred and Alfred Premier are the main ones. Recently, I had a transfer student who had been using the old Thompson method. I had been shying away from this method as it had not ever been updated and had been around for about 50 years. There are some amazing teaching pieces on that book! So, basically, I’m willing to try any method as long as it works for the student.

I chose to pursue a career in the industrial electrical business, however the love of music has always kept me involved with performing, teaching and playing. I strive for musical excellence, but never want to neglect the fun that music can bring! Music can be an expression of our emotions and soul in a way that words can often fail. I love seeing a student’s eyes light up when they get a concept or seeing them smile and laugh when we are having fun making music!

Music Education:

25 years of experience. B.A. in Liberal Arts from Maranatha Baptist University in 2017. Trained through the Flint School of performing arts & private lessons from DSO (Detroit Symphony Orchestra) acting associate concert master Hai-Xin Wu. Participated in the Dort Honors String quartet & multiple orchestras.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught violin, viola, and piano for 10 years. I’ve played violin since I was 3 years old and started piano when I was 4. Music has been a huge part of my life!

Styles Taught:

I love to ignite and feed a passion and love for music in each child’s life. My goal is to teach each student how to teach themselves and work with them to find ways to make the best music they can and have a blast while doing it! I teach classical, fiddle, sacred, and more.

Methods Taught:

I prefer Sally O’Reilly series for teaching technique to young beginners and Suzuki books for repertoire for all ages. Otherwise, I adapt and custom design all teaching methods to the needs of the student. I was trained in several different methods and my teaching style has become encompassing of all training I have received.

Hello! I’m a classically trained opera singer but that’s not all I do! I have been teaching voice and beginning piano full time since 2020. I have two performance degrees and want everyone to have a good time. I believe that music is for all. Some people just want to have fun and be challenged, or feel more comfortable in a one on one setting. I work to make sure that my students are comfortable and progressing as musicians at a pace that they are comfortable with. I think that it’s never too late to learn and I continue to look for ways to further my learning as well. Most recently, I took an 8 week course for Gender Affirming Voice Lessons. Before moving to Milwaukee, I worked in Chicago. I am an active performer and I continue to drive back and forth to Chicago for gigs, and have been asked to cover the roll of Jezibaba in Milwaukee Opera Theatre’s “Rusalka” in Feb 2025.

I’ve had 15 years of classical piano training, including the Lister-Sink method, a muscle- relaxant technique designed specifically for pianists to prevent tension and chronic pain. For three years, I studied under Beverly Joy, one of Barbara Lister-Sink’s own students and the author of the renown beginner piano curriculum utilizing the method called “Piano ABCs,” which I incorporate for my students as well. I believe this method is an invaluable asset to piano mastery and injury prevention. I also have an extensive ability to play by ear, with perfect and relative pitches. Students who exemplify the same gifts will be encouraged to sharpen those skills, structured upon a solid methodological foundation. Some of the professional work I have done includes weddings, festivals, fundraisers, open houses, and opera and musical theater accompaniment, both in Wisconsin and abroad. Although not required, my school-aged students are encouraged to join the Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs for year-round competitions. Participation would sharpen their abilities in musical theory, memorization, technique, and performance. I would also love to teach adult students, especially those who think past injuries have taken away the possibility. (They haven’t!)

I have had the privilege of teaching piano for over 30 years, both in home and at White House of Music. It is a rewarding career to see students learn and grow in their love for music. I have a more easy going personality, yet still encourage students to strive to do their best. Every student is unique and different so my goal is to help them take their next step musically- wherever they are. In my spare time I love all things horses and pretty much animals in general 🙂 I also have a passion for leading worship at my church.

Bio

Lynda Waddick has taught private piano lessons at various studios in Milwaukee, Libertyville and Des Plaines for over 30 years and has recently moved back to her hometown of Brookfield. As a teacher at heart and a supporter of life learning, she works to motivate and challenge her students to learn and develop the skills that lead to a life-long love of playing music. Lynda studied with a variety of teachers in the Milwaukee area and has a M.A. in Interpersonal Communication from Marquette University. She spent 15 years in the field of education as a corporate teacher and excels at breaking down the concepts, preparing the material and coaching her students. Lynda enjoys working with beginners and those of younger ages to guide them as they learn the fundamentals and technical skills while having fun. She teaches using an interdisciplinary approach and tailors the music studied to fit the student’s interest and progress. A variety of method books, supplemental solos, style books, and popular music are used to anchor the learning and allow for successful progress. TEACHING PHILOSOPHY/STYLE: I tailor the material presented to meet the student’s interests and requests so the process is truly “customized” for each person. I stress accuracy in counting and playing with the “flow” of the music vs. just playing correct notes. Overall, I believe in providing many opportunities to practice the concepts to get a good “grounding” before adding additional concepts. Thus, the student will likely be assigned pieces in a variety of method, exercise, recital and “fun” books each week. MUSICAL STYLES OFFERED: Traditional learning via a variety of method books supplemented by jazz, rag or classical style books and solos.

My passion has always been teaching piano. Each student is unique and can be successful in music. My job is to give students the tools and education needed to help them achieve that success.

Music Education:

Illinois Wesleyan University- Bachelor of Music- Piano Performance

Teaching Experience:

Illinois Wesleyan University Piano Preparatory Program I began my teaching career in 2015 at Illinois Wesleyan University. I taught a wide range of students ages 5-18 in the piano preparatory program. After 9 years of teaching in the program, I decided to return to the Milwaukee area. I am excited to build my studio at White House of Music!

Styles Taught:

My teaching focuses on classical music. If a student shows interest, I will include jazz and musical theatre arrangements.

Methods Taught:

I will assess each student during their first lesson. The lesson books and repertoire I select for students are based on their musical experience, age, and weekly progress. Lessons will also include skills basics (scales, arpeggios, etc.) and music theory. For young beginners, students can expect to start in either the Music Tree or Piano Adventure series. Older students with experience will be assessed and given a broad range of repertoire.

In both instruments, Pamela offers a classical approach focusing on the fundamentals of technique, expression, phrasing and theory. She also uses her performance experience to help each student learn and prepare for their own performance. To do that, Pamela focuses on getting to know each student enough to meet them where they are on their own educational journey, allowing them to be who they are in the process. She loves working with every age from beginner to advanced and her belief is that success comes in watching each student grow in confidence. Pamela most recently earned a Certificate in Music Wellness and Therapy from Berklee College of Music. She enjoys working with her students to use music as both an emotional and physical outlet through which healing, comfort and confidence can happen.

Hobbies Outside of Work Podcasting about TV shows, watching movies and tv series, enjoying our dogs, training our oldest dog for field work, singing with the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, playing for churches, going to plays or musicals, hanging out with my husband and family including our grandkids Favorite Music Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, musicals, pop, and rock Expectations of Students I expect students to work hard in their lessons but also to spend some time at home practicing the songs and skills we are working on. It is frustrating to myself and the student when they are working on the songs over and over in the lesson instead of coming into their lessons prepared to show me what they can do and then move on to the next challenge in their books. Taking responsibility for their success helps everything to go smoother. What I Want My Students To Know I want each of my students to know that I enjoy teaching and love working with them. I want them to feel successful and that the lesson time was spent well.

Methods Taught:

Technique is really important in learning piano. I start with that as a building block to learning various skills. Lesson books all have positive attributes and I tailor my choices by student learning styles. I use Alfred Basic and Faber Piano Adventures most often and Alfred prep for younger students
