Selecting a New String Instrument or Bow

Visit the String Shoppe

If you are a string player and plan to visit the White House String Shoppe to try some of our wonderful violins, violas, cellos, or basses, you may wish to bring easy, familiar sheet music with you. If you have a bow, shoulder rest, or other accessory that you would like to keep using with your new instrument, you are welcome to bring them.

Encountering an unfamiliar instrument can be challenging, and we want you to be able to focus on the feel and tone of the instruments you are playing without distractions. If you visit the White House String Shoppe to purchase a bow, please bring your current instrument with you. This is the best way for you to decide which bow is the most comfortable and will produce the best sound from your instrument. As always, parents and teachers are welcome to join string players in the String Shoppe at any time. We look forward to serving you!
